Forecast for Sunday 02.01: Update

  • Winter Storm Warning in effect...

The heaviest snow is expected this afternoon with another period of heavy snow likely later this evening. Snowfall will taper off overnight, but the wind will steadily increase through the night, leading to blowing and drifting snow. Blizzard conditions may develop as the wind picks up at night, with zero visibility a possibility. Light rain is possible at times, mainly south of Fort Wayne, where snow totals may be slightly reduced.
Daytime high: 32.
Evening temperatures: teens (wind chills near 0).
Storm total snow accumulation: 8-15 inches.


Outlook: Colder temperatures expected next week.

Forecast for Sunday 02.01

Snowfall will taper off overnight, but the wind will steadily increase through the night, leading to blowing and drifting snow. Blizzard conditions may develop as the wind picks up at night, with very low visibility a possibility.

  • Winter Storm Warning beginning at 7pm...

Mostly cloudy during the evening. Snow is expected to begin around midnight.
Overnight low: 26.
Nighttime snow accumulation: 1-3 inches.


Outlook: The snow storm will continue on Sunday, with around 1 foot of snow total. Colder temperatures expected next week.

  • Tornado Watch until 9pm...
  • Flash Flood Watch until midnight...

Cloudy and breezy. Occasional rain with heavy downpours likely. Some thunderstorms in the area may be severe.
Afternoon high: 76.


A strong storm system will approach the area from the west on Wednesday with a cold front moving through late Wednesday. Thunderstorms are possible along the front and could bring strong wind and flooding rain. There is also the potential for some tornadoes across the region during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be cooler behind the front on Thursday and Friday and into this weekend with more fall-like weather expected.

Cloudy with occasional rain throughout the day. Some thunderstorms in the area may contain heavy downpours and gusty winds.

Afternoon high: 76.

Thunderstorms are possible along the front and could bring strong wind and flooding rain. Temperatures will be cooler behind the front on Thursday and Friday and into this weekend with more fall-like weather expected.

   GUSTS TO 50 MPH POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING.

 * IMPACTS:  TRAVEL ON MOST ROADWAYS WILL BECOME DIFFICULT AT
   TIMES,  ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. LOOSE OBJECTS MAY
   BE BLOWN AROUND AND ONTO STREETS. LARGE LIMBS MAY FALL AND
   ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.
